After you have guessed the main idea of your classmates (there is a discussion post under the tab you can guess and discuss) you may make a glogster to display what you find is important about a main idea. Once you have completed your glogster post it here for me and the rest of your class to see!

What did you think of the video?
I liked this video. It was very informative. My notes are posed on the next discussion board.

Notes on Video
1. The main idea is the main point being stated in a paragraph, essay, article, or other passage.
2. It is what is specifically being said about a particular topic.
3. The main idea is the point that the article is trying to get across.
4. Details support the main idea.
5. To find the main idea you ask yourself, "What is the point the author is trying to make?"
6. To help find the main idea, you should skim through the article and see what words are repeated.
7. You can help determine what the main idea is by looking at the details.
8. Sometimes the main idea is in the beginning of a paragraph, but it can be anywhere in text.
9. To find the main idea, ask yourself questions such as, "Is it a person, idea, theory, or event?"

What did you think of the video?
I agree! I'm not sure what grade students discuss "main ideas" (I'd guess....3rd ish?), but I think this would be a good tool to use to help them learn the concept! Sally
