Instructions:
First off watch this video from BrainPop.com about Main Idea. You will be watching it twice. The first time just watch and take it all in. The second time around take notes on a quicknote file. (Quicknote is what we have used in class to take notes on things we have read. If you don't have or use Mozzilla and choose to take notes in a word document that's fine as well.)
Main Idea Video:
Once you have watched the video join our discussion group here and post your notes. Comment on each others notes, find out the important parts about the video and main idea in general. You can share outside knowledge with the class as well if you know something that wasn't discussed in the video about main idea. Any helpful tips are welcome!
After you have discussed your notes you will create a short writing sample about a topic of your choice which has an identifiable main idea in it. Make sure it has a topic and a main idea with facts to support it. Be creative!
After you have completed your passage you may post it on this wiki and other classmates will try to identify your main idea from your writing. If the classmate is incorrect let them know and allow them to try again, hints are OK to give.
After you have guessed the main idea of your classmates (there is a discussion post under the tab you can guess and discuss) you may make a glogster to display what you find is important about a main idea. Once you have completed your glogster post it here for me and the rest of your class to see!
